CELEBRATING 83 YEARS OF SERVICE

Since our formation in 1941, the Elizabethtown Lions Club has devoted its energy to passionately serving the greater Elizabethtown area and through the power of Lions International, the world.

We place a special emphasis on providing vision services locally to those who cannot afford it, and providing support to young people through educational and sports award programs.

We also support the ECHOS, The Elizabethtown Community Cupboard, and the Elizabethtown and Rheems Fire Departments in their missions of serving the less fortunate and our community as a whole.

Our Mission

lions in Action in elizabethtown

  • December 12, 2023 over 50 Lions, their family and friends, enjoyed our annual Christmas Party. Along with Santa and gifts for the kids, Mark Luckenbill sang holiday songs while all the kids in attendance danced the night away.
  • The Elizabethtown Lions, along with Lions from 3 other Clubs, held our annual banquet to present awards to the some of the best football players in the area at the Lititz Springs restaurant.
  • Since August 2023 our club has had the opportunity to hear speakers on numerous topics, including childhood cancer, why we are fortunate to live in the USA, Interesting Stories from a Pilot, and the Lancaster Conservancy.
  • A group of 13 Lions gathered to march in the Elizabethtown Holiday Parade and hand out candy and sponge balls.  A great time to interact with the community and spread some joy.
  • Our last meeting in November 2023 ended with the entire club stuffing Christmas Stockings for our service members.  Materials from a list of things asked for was distributed to all members. The Lions brought so much stuff that along with the overflowing stockings were sent 2 large boxes filled with candy, toiletries, journals, etc.
  • October 2023 brought the first of many military banners being displayed on utility poles in the Elizabethtown Area.  Over 200 banners have been ordered by family and friends to honor those women and men who have and are serving in various branches of our military.
  • The annual Lions Picnic was held in September.  After a busy August and early September, it’s always a good time for Lions, family, and friends to enjoy the casual dining of a picnic. This year everyone brought a picture of their family to share with the rest of the club members.
  • On September 16, 2023 the annual Car Cruise and Chicken BBQ was held at the Rheems Fire
Company. Over 90 classic cars were on display and Lions gave out donations to the Rheems Fire Company, ECHOES, and the Etown High School Therapy Dog Program.
  • The Lions again conducted 6 nights of Bingo at the Etown Fair; there were lots of winners. Thanks to the fair attendees for their generosity.  It was a great time to interact with lots of people.
  • On May 20, 2023, was the Lions Bike Rodeo.  Obstacles, ramps, figures, and bike safety were all part of the course.  Many participants tried the course several times, improving their times and accuracy each time.

Each year we perform several service projects and hold fundraising activities to enable those projects.

Recently we have added a monthly award to recognize an outstanding student at the CTC each month, and are working on placing Military Honor Banners in Elizabethtown.

Are you in need of vision services?

Please read the attached article below on how to access vision services (supported by the Lions) in the greater Elizabethtown area:

Locally, nationally and internationally, the Lions are an advocate for the Blind and Vision Impaired, and the Disabled. We also strive to strengthen our community through teamwork, partnership, and fellowship.

We meet regularly at 6:15PM on the fourth Tuesday of the month. Due to COVID-19, our meeting location is a bit variable at the moment, but for now we will be at Christ Lutheran Church on E High Street.
